Dear Friends:
As you know, Tribeca Hebrew has closed the doors of its after school program because our vision was greater than our finances. During the process of attending open houses and considering Hebrew school alternatives, many of you contacted us to express your longing to continue our unique community.
Where your child goes to Hebrew school is only one aspect of the larger Jewish identity. Some of our children will go to Kesher or Mechina at JCP, some to Hebrew school at Synagogue for the Arts, and others may seek their own paths. Regardless of the educational choices we make for our children, we can all continue to be part of the community that has been so important to our children and to each of us. Achieving this goal requires that each of us finds a way to contribute to the vibrancy of our community.
Already some families have expressed interest in hosting shared Shabbat dinners in their homes, and others have expressed interest in continuing High Holiday Services with Amichai Lau-Lavie (with Michael Dorf at City Winery). There are many other possibilities as well. What we do is limited only by our imagination and our commitment.
Therefore we are inviting you to join us on June 25 at 7pm at our home for a gathering to discuss our mutual hopes and aspirations for Jewish spiritual and social activities. If you can’t be with us, no worries, just reach out and let us know that you want to be a part of the community and tell us what you want to contribute whether in kind (host a Shabbat dinner, arrange an outing or lecture) or in dollars. The next chapter is for us to write together.
